@suarimahmed (Suarim Ahmed) has recently joined our Street Team. Suarim's based in Wellington, New Zealand and he's a street/lifestyle inspired photographer. We caught up with him and asked some quick questions to get to know more about the talent behind the camera...
Hey Suarim, how long have you been a photographer?
I bought my first camera in December of 2017 and spent every day since then watching YouTube videos trying to learn everything I could about the photography medium.
What or who got you started in photography?
No one, in particular, inspired me to start photography just something I've always been doing subconsciously with my phone but started taking it seriously when I got my first camera.
Photographer/s who inspires you? There are a lot of photographers that inspire me, here's a few I can think of:
What’s in your camera bag?
Just recently purchased the Canon 80D with an 18-55mm image stabilized, a 50mm 1.8 also has my first camera the Canon 1300d and a gorilla pod.
What's on your mind to purchase next & what would be your dream set-up?
The next thing I want to purchase will either be a microphone or the sigma 18-35mm 1.8 lens. Dream setup is definitely the Canon 1dxm2 with a Canon 18-35mm 1.8 L series lens, and a 70-200mm lens. I would also be keen for the Sony a7m3.
How important is Photoshop and or Lightroom in your final images?
Lightroom is very essential to my photos and my workflow, I feel like post-production is essential as it almost always makes your photos look much better and gives your photos an authentic style.
What advice do you have for somebody who wants to pursue photography?
My advice is simple. Just start. Doesn't matter what you use to take photos if it's your phone or a professional camera, just start doing it, you won't get better at doing something if you don't start.
If you could go anywhere for one day with your camera, where would you go - what would you shoot...
This is a very hard question, can't choose just one. However, lately, I have really wanted to go backstage at a Travis Scott concert as I feel the energy and environment would be incredible to photograph. Otherwise, I have always wanted to go to Los Angeles and photograph the landscapes and beaches there.
How do you draw inspiration to be creative?
Inspiration for me comes from so many different places it's insane, sometimes I will get an idea for a photo out of nowhere, most times its simply from Pinterest or Instagram but lately I have been getting inspiration through music.
Favourite songs on your playlist right now?
What would you like to be doing in 5 years from now?
Being a full-time photographer and videographer hopefully.
Your stuff is dope, where do we find more?
